Psalms 1:1-4

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

The main verse I want to point out is verse 2,David Loved the law of the Lord, when i read that verse, I thought of how, that Davids favorite thing to do was READ and think about the Law of God, Because blessed is the man that walketh not in the way of sinners... and his meditation, his constant thinking about the law of God would keep him from that, though he did sin, but thats when he let down his gaurd, or when he wasnt thinking about the law of God. But for most of his life he was like the tree planted by the rivers of water, where others could see the differnce in David and Isreal because God kept giving them the victory in their battles, Which always came after he went to the Lord asking for victory. as described in chapter 2. When Isreal was ungodly they were like the chaff, They were driven into captivety, or othe consequences.

For us its the same, we have to love the word of God and his laws also, to keep us from sin, meditate in it think about it, pray about it. and you will be like that tree, Others will see a difference in your life, because of a weapon to use against sin, the word of God. If you try to do it on your own, without God, isnt that ungodly? is your righteousness as filthy rags because it points toward how good you are, and not how great God is? You will be like the chaff, driven about by the wind because you only do whats right when you feel like it.

In chapter 2 it talks about how God laughs when people want to go up against Isreal. because all David has to do is ask God for victory, and God would give it to him. obviously Isreal had to go out and fight, but God was with the swords of isreal, and its the same, sometimes we have to struggle and, we can have the sword (the word of God)but if we have sin, as an Ai, or we just dont ask god to go with us, we dont have our biggest weapon, which is God. the one that gives power to the scripture. Thats How it points to God, and not to yourself. God can lugh at Satan when he comes to attack us, because all we have to ask God to help us in our fight because we have no true power in ourselves. but we need our sword, we need to love it and meditate on it.

Know his death and pain

We long to know his power and reign but do we know his death and pain. (From a random song)
Father forgive them for they know not what they do. (Jesus on the cross)

If we truly knew his death and pain, and the the fact that each time we sin he had a pain that he had to endure for us. We are crucifying Christ everytime we sin, we would understand the importance of getting victory! We would stop in our tracts and ask God for the victory each time.

The Call

II Chorinthians 6

4But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
5In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6By pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
7By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
8By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
9As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
10As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Put imaginations and all thoughts in Gods Controll

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Its striking of how we are to put our sins, worries of other people, and evil thoughts in Gods control, because when we try to control them, we fall, and fail to do the right thing every time, bring it into the obedience of Christ. let God give you the victory, let God be the one to work out a situation in other people life, instead of thinking only of evil in other people lives let God work through you, to encourage and help others. but dont try to change others in your own strength, thats Gods job.

Gal 6:13

For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

When the world tries to persuade you into doing what they do, they are not doing it because they care about you, they make you their friend, and makes you scared to stand up for God for fear of losing the friendship, their desire is to have people like you and me, following them so that they can say look at all the followers i have, and not doing it because the truly care about you. or to have a relationship that is used to encourage one another, their reasons are selfish!

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Are you the man's man?

Galations 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Do you want to be man's man or Christ's servant, obviously Paul chose to be God's servant, and look what happened to his life!

An obvious comparison is David and Saul. Saul was Man's favorite guy, good looking, tall, strong, and ended up being a known as a bad king. David was Christ's servant, tho not perfect but, known as a man after God's own heart!

God and his wisdom

God is a whole lot better than us, he does things with the things everyone gets to use, in a completely different way.

  • With love he saved the world, and guides us
  1. Love in today's world, leads to some pretty harsh decision's
  2. Love also turns to hate, and divorces.
  • With power God healed and helped others
  1. With power thousands of Jews were killed on holocaust
  • Being a king he chose to be a pauper
  1. being a pauper we try to live like kings, selfishness, greed.
  • With blood God saved the world
  1. With blood we kill many in wars, and murders.

And yet he saved us.

You can add a lot more to this list, the way God does things, and the way we do them, is a very big contrast.

Galatians 1:16 - To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Wow, this really just hit me, so many times I go the way that sounds best to my flesh, in ways of sin and ways of peer pressure, I'm scared of what the other person will think of me for doing something to make my relationship with God better, and a computer game, or doing something for my flesh instead of doing something for the one who gave me a purpose.

Are you all out for God?

People that call themselves Christians, but live for themselves, want most at of both lives. You cant do that. You can only have one reward.

Matthew 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

This next verse goes along with Greg's sermon Sunday, About either living for yourself or living for God, how you cant be in between. This is a familiar verse, but is pretty clear.

Mathew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

You cannot be inbetween, and have the peace of God.

Serving, and glorifying Christ is what a christian is. So if you don't enjoy it, you've got trouble.

Proverbs 9:8

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

1: Your not supposed to correct a scorner (someone who bascically thinks your worthless, as well as what your saying), because he isn't going to listen to you, and he is just going to hate you more, he knows what he's doing is wrong, God has to change his heart.

2. Are you the scorner, or the wise man?

Jordan

Scorn means: Contempt or disdain felt toward a person or object considered despicable or unworthy.

Awareness

Be spiritually aware. In Madden, (A football game) you want to have good awareness. And want to build your attributes up. In our spiritual life you need to build up your awareness by sorting out where, and when, and who you are tempted by. Be aware of Satan's tactics.

Philippians 2

12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Go over Salvation ask yourself what it means to you. It should make you fear and tremble at the fact that you should be going to hell. That Christ shouldn't have done it for us. That because we are saved we should drive to help save others.

13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

If you do not will to do Gods good pleasure, God is not working in you. If you want to play computer games, over doing Gods will, God is not working in you.

Desirng God,

Seaking eternal Rewards

Ephesians 6
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Obeying your parents is a cammand of promise. God promises us that if we honour them(litterlly lifting them up for what they have done for you)God will reward us. Just as an olympian gets honoured for wining an event. Obey your parents, God doesnt ask us to, he cammands us to.
